"Envisioning Abolition Futures through Arts, Cultural Organizing, and Media" Panel
As the grassroots abolition movement continues to grow, people are connecting the local fight against the Chinatown jail scraper to the larger demands of ending the carceral state. Cultural workers and artists have always played an important role in movement building and organizing. Now more than ever we are compelled to think outside of the box, to reimagine a radically different society - one that is more just - that upholds our common racial, economic, climate and social justice values.
This program will feature artists' work that highlight Black and Asian solidarity, prison abolition and place based resistance. We hope this discussion will unleash our collective imagination and creative vision for an abolitionist future.
Panelists: Louise Yeung, Sunnie Liu, Rohan Zhou-Lee, and Yves Tong Nguyen
